Whatever the season, there’s no beauty trick as effective as a set of brightly painted lips. The spring/summer 2016 catwalks saw shades of every colour – Zac Posen’s models wore a bright-orange matte lipstick, while Givenchy went dark and sultry with deep berry tones. Burberry Prorsum and Dolce & Gabanna set the trend for classic crimson and palest pink – two shades enjoying a revival this season.
We applied our favourite shades using a liner first to create definition, and then filled the lips in with the lipstick. If you’re a bit scared of using a liner, we’ll be posting an easy How To guide very soon to help you nail the technique. Our top tips below will also help you achieve long-lasting colour all day long.
How to make your lipstick last longer
Tip 1: Lip liner is the best way to help your lipstick look perfect for longer. We recommend applying it all over the lips first – this is great because it creates a barrier over the lips and gives the lipstick something to latch on to.
Tip 2: Apply your lipstick, then blot the lips against a tissue. Then apply a second coat. This creates layers and will ensure the colour stays on.
Tip 3: Dust a small amount of translucent powder over the lips after applying lipstick. This helps to set it and will keep it on for longer.
Tip 4: Sip hot drinks or cocktails through a straw to avoid losing your lips all over the glass.
